So I have now been in America for 7 months and things are going great.

Thankfully I found a great job that started as soon as I got my EAD and I received my Greencard a few weeks later.

Got myself a car and a license (Licence was a pain. Had to go to 4 DMV's to sort out issues!)

Everything has worked out great so far! knock on wood

I do miss five a side footy (found a Sunday game but its pretty dire to be honest) - Haven't really found many people to hang out with, if there are any expats around the Old Bridge NJ area, shoot me a PM.

Overall, its been a great move for me and I find myself much happier than I ever was in London.

Hope all going well for others!

For stuff like soccer and the likes try meetup.

Don't know if you're a rugby man, but I found that recreational rugby in the states is largely made up of expats, met a few that way.

Also found that I've gotten on really well with my wife's friends and husbands of my wife's friends - I started supporting local sports, and going to games with those guys - gives you something to talk about with locals!

Good luck with it though, good for you for putting yourself out there to make new friends, let me know if you're ever over in Detroit
