Still waiting for NVC ...

My husband had someone help us with the documents and the application. But I can't help myself to read through the process though so, I went to visit the CEAC website and found two area's for payment. Is it okay to proceed with the AOS fee and application fee without having the NVC packet at hand yet? Or it is wise to just wait for the documents before making any payment?

If the website lets you pay it, it should be OK to send it through. You don't need anything in particular to pay the fee. I believe, once you've done that, fill out the DS-261 (choose an agent) and then immediately call and review it with an NVC agent, and it should unlock your IV payment the next day.

This stage definitely involves a fair bit of calling to the NVC in order to make it go as quickly as possible.

I'm pretty certain you can do it for yourself and your children. The DS-261 is just choosing an agent anyway And then first thing tomorrow you can call NVC to review it so you can have your IV fee unlocked.

Your agent will receive communication from the NVC about your case. You may act as your own agent or you may choose your petitioner, a family member, friend, attorney, immigration professional, or any other person you trust. You may have an agent that represented you and the petitioner in the petition process with USCIS. However, you will need to formally select an agent to represent you for your visa processing.
