You have to be fingerprinted first and then they will schedule/send an interview notice. Takes about 1-2 months from the time you were fingerprinted (although in some cases, it will take 3-4 months depending on the background checks).

Hello --- Does the N-400 interview get scheduled after the USCIS receives our fingerprint results OR after both the USCIS receives the fingerprint results and the field office reaches the processing date of our application?

You'll get an interview when your background check is completed and when no one with an earlier priority date is still waiting at the same office (unless they are waiting on background check). The published processing times are effectively meaningless as they reflect the last application that was worked on when the process times were published. That application may have been held up due to a background check delay. So there may be older and newer applications being approved. Best estimate comes from looking through the monthly tracking tables on VJ and looking for applicants from your city over the past few months.
