Hi Folks - Last minute panicking :clock: , For my financial evidence to take to the embassy, my wife mailed updated 1040s for herself and our sponsor as well as I-864 and I-864a reflecting the current tax year.

Unfortunately this was over 3 weeks ago, and it would appear by all accounts that it was lost in the mail. So not only do I not have original 'wet ink' documents, their info is now floating out there in the ether somewhere (pretty scary stuff to be honest with the amount of info on those documents).

Now I understand theres not really much that can be done about the missing documents, but my interview is one week from tomorrow. I do have scanned prints of the 1040s and I-864/a. Are these acceptable? On my interview letter/instructions, I have a code Y on financial evidence, as I sent the I-864/a and 1040s for them both to the NVC, and obviously they've made their way to the embassy.

Anyone else had experience with this? I believe I have until Wednesday to get originals by UPS, but understandably our sponsor is a little reluctant to mail her info again in light of it going missing.

Thanks

Photocopies of documents for the AOS package is more than fine. 1040s by themselves is not enough. You need the entire tax return (including w2s, 1099s, etc...) or a tax return transcript. They can get the tax return transcript either by mail, or preferably due to your short time frame, at an IRS office. Then they can scan and email you the documents or put them on a secure cloud or online drive (like dropbox or goodle drive.)

Thanks for the comeback - it's a relief to know that scans are ok - as for the full returns or transcripts - we only submitted 1040s and 864s to NVC and they never mentioned anything and there was no RFE? I'll try to get hold of their W2s anyway.
