Need police certificate from South Africa

My fiance needs to get a police certificate from South Africa. We are having a tough time figuring this one out. The UK one was a simple process, this one not so much. The SA website says applicants can arrange for the certificate to be collected via courier service at their own expense. How do we do that? Has anyone done this before? My fiance currently lives in Canada. I am in US. It looks like it cost $62.60 to mail a letter to SA one way! Even more expensive in Canada. If that is the only option, I guess we must do that. But I still cant figure out how to arrange for the certificate to be collected via courier service. Help!

Hi, I am also married to a South African/American and struggling with another document (unabridged birth certificate).

I have found that the SAAustralia forum (http://www.saaustralia.org/) is the best place to find answers to these kind of questions.

You may want to check this thread: http://www.saaustralia.org/topic/46861-sa-police-clearance/#comment-429048

People there seem to recommend the following courier services:

http://www.bunnyhop.co.za/

http://www.passports4u.co.za/

http://www.nevetecpoliceclearance.co.za/

Hope you find this information useful. Good luck!

Hi, I am currently in a similar position to you, needing a police certificate from South Africa to be sent to me in the UK for my US visa process and I am having the same problem with finding cheaper options to send it off and then get it sent back to me. They are currently quoting me at about 150 pounds for the entire service! Did you manage to find another way? Thank in advance for your help!!

Unfortunately, no. We ended up using USPS to send paperwork there which wasnt too bad $15-20 US I think. We used Fedex to pick up and it was like $100!  There was really no way around it. Every option was just as expensive.

Wow... that's insane! Thank you for letting me know. I guess we'll just have to go ahead with it. How quickly did they get it back to you?

Honestly, it was insane. Not to scare ya (lol) but they couldnt find our paperwork. Luckily my husband has family there who called and helped get it sorted. When we finally did get it back it was a crumpled mess. I think it was over a month or more. I hope you have better luck.
