Arrival in U.S...what can we expect?

Visa approved and we are getting ready depart for US on 4/8, can you guys please share your arrival experience. What should we prepare and expect? Any suggestions or things to look out for? We will land in San Francisco, CA.

I would just be really careful if you have any long layovers and stuff to be sure to monitor any gate/flight/time changes...some of the airports are horrible about that. My wife almost missed her gate change which was other side of airport.

We did POE Detroit (Hanoi-Seoul-Detroit) and didn't have any trouble. The 8-hour layover in Korea was spent shopping and resting. The only advice I have: When you get to Customs/Immigration, ask to be in the same line as foreign fiance. This allows you to go through at the same time and you can answer/translate questions, if needed. So, instead of going through the "U.S. Citizen" line, go through the "Foreigner" line with fiance. Total time in line and with the officer was about 1 hour. Don't know about SF.

Make sure the sealed package remains sealed. Carry your sealed package and medical - protect it!

Thank you both...I have noticed gate changes are pretty common with my past few flights so I'll be careful for that. We are flying SGN-Soeul, Korea-SFO with 12 hrs layover in Soeul. Looking forward to using that time to check out Soeul.

Will, do you remember how many days it took Visa to get to Ha Noi from Saigon?

Our interview was 3/29 and we are waiting for Visa to come home in Da Nang. My flight is 4/8. I'm getting a little worried it may not be here in time and I have to change flight to a later date.

Visa was delivered in 7 days, 8 at the most. It was delivered via EMS motorbike. You should see the visa any day. I hope you get it in time.

Seoul airport is very cool - very nice. There's a place to sleep upstairs (free, open to the public). You can take a tour of Seoul, no visa required (I think you get on a bus, but cannot get off). I've never done it. I've been to the Seoul airport several times and always do a mix of sleep and walk around. Great place - one of my favorite airports.
