I'm from the Philippines and my fiance is from the united States. I just have several questions regarding the k1 procedure:

1. Should I get a passport now? I never had one yet, but people say it's easy to get one and only takes a month, but my fiance filed for k1 visa this February and I want to be prepared just in case.

2. My fiance lives with his parents and when I get there they said that we can stay there for as long as we want until we can be financially stable. Will this affect the visa? My fiance makes around $26000 a year if that helps..

3. I have some self harm scars from 4 years ago when I was a teenager, being emo and stuff.. I'm worried this would affect my medical? It's on my leg and it's kind of deep but not long. I'm really worried about that since they said that they'd look at self harm scars..

That's all for now I guess..

Regarding number 1...Yes you should get a passport and have it ready.

Regarding number 2...You should have no problem with living with his parents. He is making 26000 a year and that is enough to qualify him for both of you as in financial support.

As far as number 3...first of all, you will need to get a Police Clearance to see if you have no prior criminal record. They might ask you about the scar and see if it was self-inflected and if it is then I really don't know the procedures...Maybe someone with more knowledge can answer this.

4. Fiance visited last May 24, 2014 to June 8, 2014 I think... That's almost 2 years ago .. Could we get denied for that?

That's all for now I guess

1) YES. Don't delay as you will need your passport shortly after the petition has been approved at USCIS. You can go to the DFA website for details to obtaining your passport.

2) No, living with his parents has no bearing on being approved. As long as his gross income meets the 125% income of the I-864P you are fine.

3) You will be required to to complete a psychological evaluation at SLEC as part of the medical
