Name a country and ask a legitimate question regarding customs or culture one has always

been curious about (no insults please) If you don't have the answer move on, if familiar with

the answer or from the country please post, then ask about a country you've been curious about.

e can learn from each other.

I believe that it's because the bottoms of the feet are considered the dirtiest part of the body, especially in those poor areas where people cannot afford shoes.

Why are the Japanese so obsessed with American beauty culture? (Ie: skin bleaching, hair bleaching,) I don't think that I've seen another culture so bound by American beauty standards (please, this isn't meant offensively!)

Skin bleaching and butt shots is an international thing now, certain African countries have

banned the bleaching products because its causes skin cancer & high blood pressure from

the mercury & other ingredients causing their medical system to spend on caring for these

users, Its very wide-spread in the UK, US & some Latin & Caribbean countries that has

reported high rates of blood pressure among the young.

Magazines, TV etc sell the idea that Americans (especially white or light skin) are the beautiful

ppl, some suffer from inferior complexes brought by treatment because they are darker, so

self-esteem can be an issue, and society on a whole gravitate to the lighter whether we admit

it or not....In Asia being dark makes one looked at as laborer or sort of menial job person.

Mexico : Why do Mexican males take their wives last names when they marry.

very surprised no Spanish VJer has told us.

I think it is a personal decision among Spanish

people, not a rule, others have taken wives last

names , but it does not work as the wife getting

her husband name sort of automatically since

husbands taking wives names must change

their names by deed-poll.

Why is there a special book in China to register

a childs birth , don't they use birth-certificates

within China
