DS-160 question for B visa of K1-AOS Parent

Hi all,

I arrived on a K1 visa and got married to my fiancé last month . We are now in the process of adjusting status and are still waiting on our biometrics appointment. My mom would like to visit my husband and I this summer and is applying for visitor B visa (Her last one expired dec 2014). We have two questions

1. Should she use my maiden name or my married name while filling out my contact information for the DS-160? ---- I have not been able to change my name at Social Security because Im still waiting on my EAD card with new married name. I did, however fill out all the AOS forms with my married name and my married name is on my marriage certificate BUT my social security card and all IDs are in my maiden name.

2. For the family information section on the DS- 160 that asks about the status of immediate relatives in the US, should she select Non-Immigrant or other/I don't know to describe my status (i'm a K1 adjusting status). The other options are US citizen and Permanent Resident which don't describe my status now.

1. She can use either name but I recommend using the married name.

2. I think there is an option for "other" besides those options you mentioned

Thanks for your response Kojo & Yaa but there were no "other "option just "other/i don't know". We are thinking of choosing "Non- immigrant"

Would that be okay?

K1 is not a non-immigrant visa. I would go for "other/I don't know". If the CO want's to know more information they will ask at the interview. They have the info already anyway if they want to investigate.

Let's see if other folks on here have other ideas.
