I have looked into my question, and have seen multiple different answers, hopefully you guys can tell me which is correct.

I am looking at part 6 of the I864 Affidavit of Support for mother in law AOS. Husband is USC petioning her, and also as her sole financial sponsor. Part 6, section 19a-19c is asking for "total income (adjusted gross income on IRS Form 1040EZ) as reported on my federal income tax returns for the most recent three years was:"

For the past 3 years we have filed our 1040 jointly, so the adjusted gross income shows a combined income for both of us. I am currently unemployed, and my husbands income is enough so he doesnt need a joint sponsor.

Ive read in several places you should put the adjusted gross income amount as it shows in the 1040, even if the income is combined but I have read in another place to calculate only his income (based on W2) and explain on a side note the discrepancy. What do you guys think?

In Part 6, section 2 ("My current individual income is:") I have put the amount that he is expected to make in 2016 based on his paystubs for the past 6months that I will be sending along with everything else.

Thank you in advance.

Yes, as shown in the 1040. I believe it's supposed to be Line 22, Total Income. You'll just need to also include with the tax transcripts a copy of his W2 so they can discern which portion of that income is his.

Yes, the current individual income is correct.
