Hi, I have my interview next week (in Amsterdam).

Some months ago I submitted a copy of my birth certificate to the NVC - It was a standard Italian birth certificate with English translation (certified by myself).

I read around (especially this review: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=189807)that at the embassy they require an International one.

"One thing though: When you get your birth certificate, make sure to ask for an INTERNATIONAL one, not jsut a normal one with translation, I know that's what it says when you get info about getting documents, that you needed to get a translation, but they don't find that good enough these days, "

I didn't get any RFE from NVC for my birth certificate, and there is nowhere on their communication in which they tell me I should bring something different from the original version of what they sent?

Does anybody have any experience to share? Can I just chill out?

You bring your birth certificate. There's no such thing as an international birth certificate. You can submit materials in the language of the country plus English, so you may not need to translate. I don't know what the official language of the Netherlands is, if there is one.

please note above, my interview is in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

in Europe there are international versions of birth/marriage/death certificates. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention_on_the_Issue_of_Multilingual_Extracts_from_Civil_Status_Records

Yes, I edited my post before I saw your reply.

If NVC accepted your birth certificate, you're fine. Follow what they say, not an anonymous poster on the internet (same goes for me, or anyone).

My embassy (Frankfurt) has some guidelines on what to bring to the interview and the section about birth certificate says. "An original or certified extract of a birth registration entry for each applicant"

It doesn't mention any international stuff or the like.

So I wouldn't worry. I just send them my birth certificate the way it is and I am sure it will be fine.

The dutch don't have an official birth certificate. There is only a transcript available from the original ledgers. This than gets certified by the official that hands it out. There are 2 versions available. A dutch one and an international one. The international has official translations in various languages.

If you were born in a different country, it's probably different. The review is made in regards to dutch born nationals.

And again, don't forget to bring it (and the translation) with you when you finally do migrate. You'll need it again for the AOS. (sorry just noticed you're not on the K-1 track my bad)

Thanks, that totally makes sense now!
