American wanting to marry a filipina. Have visited in person my fiance in Cebu. Read the instructions and have the packet about to go but there is a question about the address of my fiance. There is a one official address she uses and another address she uses. I have been to the house and inside and met her folks but that is a very crowded city. I'm not really sure anyone outside of cebu understands the address system there.

Anyways, here is the question-- how important is the address for the fiance visa process and how do they contact her. Is email more important, a phone number more important, or does the address need to be perfect?

When i was in Cebu before my fiance filled out her biographic form and signed it and her letter of intent and signed it so that it would be easier to put the packet together. If address is vital i may try and mail her something and delay the k1 packet. Or can i get the packet going since it takes so long and update her address somehow later if need be?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Ted

i went throught the same exact thing my wife is from a province way in the mountains, no way any mail would get there. just put an address if you have it, you will check constantly online for your interview, you dont have to wait for anything to be sent to her, the only problem is if you need to send her something from you

Address isn't vital to the process as far as having deliveries. As long as the address listed on the forms is her actual in Cebu, there is no issue.

Email address is more important during the processing in Manila. Phone number is secondary. Address won't have deliveries until it is time for the visa to be delivered, unless you choose to pickup the visa packet at a 2GO office (2GO shouldn't have any issues with the address)

I would not stress on it, as long as it is her address.

The embassy uses reliable courier services - 2Go and Air2100 (FedEx local counterpart).

YES, courier services here understands pretty well how crowded Cebu and much worst Metro Manila for that matter. They are familiar with the address system, much better use the city address; crowded and complicated for you but that will be easier for the courier than the out of town addresses or provincial addresses, as one comment points out, in the Barios and mountain areas.

Thanks for the replies. Appreciate it. I'm not sure anything I filled out asked for my fiance's email address. So do they just notify me and I pass it on? I do remember putting her phone number on the forms i mailed in. Do they call if they can't deliver?

You are worrying on something that might be irrelevant later on your process, I do hope by this time you already mailed the packet.

After the approval, the US Embassy MNL send packet 3 / letter with website link on the requirements for K1 visa. Most already started medical or done with the interview before they received the actual letter. I received mine almost 2 months from our approval date.

You will receive the NOA 2 - Notice of Approval, send that to your fiancee among other docs she needs from you for the K1 visa processing in MNL. You also need to get the MNL number by calling NVC. Study the process and requirements after NOA2, for now just wait for NOA 1 if you already send out the packet.
