Hi All,

I am an Indian citizen currently preparing my documents to re-issue my Indian passport (expired couple of weeks ago).

I came to the US in August 2007 on F1 visa. My F1 visa expired in May 2012 (shortly after I received Green Card in March 2012).

The BLS website mentions that if I am applying for passport re-issue, and if my visa has expired, I should visit the Chicago consulate in person for an interview.

Would this also be applicable in my case, even though I have a Green Card now?

I would appreciate if you guys could share your experience, or let me know if I am missing out on something.

Thanks much!

Hi there!

I was in same condition as you, and I did not have to go for any interview. All I did was fill up an application at BLS with all of the supporting documents. They gave me my passport in 4 days because I needed to go back to India in the same week.
