I am a student attending school outside of the state of my residency, and it's a hassle for me to fly back home for both my interview and my oath, especially since I have such a busy schedule and can't just drop everything and fly to a different state at the absolute discretion of USCIS. I noticed that my field office offers same-day oath ceremony, but I know that this would only be possible if no name change request is filed.

My interview is scheduled for an 11 am slot next month (is this early enough in the day to make the daily administrative ceremony?). Since my oath has not been scheduled, would it be possible for me to call USCIS and have them cancel my name change request before my interview so that I will be able to do the oath on the same day as my interview?

Whether or not I do a name change doesn't even matter THAT much to me, and it's really not worth all of this extra stress. I just want to not have to make 2 trips home (especially since I will not be able to plan anything in advance, which is probably the most annoying part of all of this).

Does anyone have any experience with this or can offer any insight?

Thank you!

You will have a chance to do so at interview. Good luck.

Just mention it at interview in person, Interviewer will correct that option on N400 form and computer. Same day Oath depends on office, your result and background check so if you are clear, you will be able to attend it.
