Hello everybody. I am almost ready to apply for naturalization. I'm married to an US citizen. I checked the list of documents but I'm just not sure if I have to get a new police certificate for this process, as I got for the green card. I am from Brazil and I've been living in US for the last 3 years. Is it necessary to get a new one? Thank you so much!

The only N400 cases I've ever heard of needing police certificates were those where the biometrics were considered unreadable (after two attempts). In those cases, applicants were required to obtain police certificates from places they've lived since becoming permanent residents. I haven't heard of anyone submitting a police certificate from another country with the N400 application.

I don't think this is what you're asking, but just in case: if you have a criminal record in the US or another country, then you may have to present documentation related to that at the interview.

Thank you so much! I understood the same after reading some posts, but I wanted to confirm. The reason I was asking is because if I needed new police certificates or any other document from Brazil, I also have to get them translated. I presented all this documents when I applied for the green card.
