Co Sponsor Income requirements Questions

Hey Guys,

I'm currently a full time student and I require a co sponsor to file the K1 visa paper work and also the AOS paperwork.

According to the poverty guidelines in the above pdf, my co sponsor( father) makes enough. Income >50k

The only thing that is in question is his W2 is from UNUM Insurance Company, which means essentially his checks are disability checks.

A lady that has been guiding me through this indirectly, has told me that we can not use my father's W2 or even use him as a sponsor because his checks aren't from a company.

I would like to know if anyone knows if this is true or not. The lady said she worked for USCIS for a while and has done this for years.
