I got legally married and my marriage certificate has my maiden name on it.

I applied for my social security and changed my last name to my husband's last name.

I do not have a middle name and turns out in my state, I can add a middle name whenever I choose. However, when I tried to add it with the social security office, they said I can't change it until my ID's match my new current name (married name). They said when I apply for my AOS, I can add a middle name of my choice.

However, my social security card has my new married name on it. My husband thinks I shouldn't add a middle name to my AOS because it'll cause a confusion and I could be denied, instead I should just add a middle name AFTER the entire process.

So is this true? Can I add a middle name of my choice to my AOS even with my ssc having no middle name but new married name?

Should I add a middle name, will this cause confusion, should I wait for this process to finish before adding a middle name?
