How much time needed in Bogotá BEFORE interview?

I have asked this question before in the "CR-1 Columbia Club" thread, but didn't get much response.

Before the Visa interview, medical and clincal exams are required.

1. How many days before the visa interview should we plan to be in Bogotá?

2. Is there anything else (besides medical stuff) that needs to be done in Bogotá before the visa interview?

I need to plan for my plane tickets, etc.

If you plan on getting the DAS Certificado de Migratorio in Bogota then I believe you need to allow 3 business days (it is 2 or 3 days; someone else can clarify). You can normally get the results from the medical exam the next day. She has to go a lab before going to the medical appt. And I personally would build in AT LEAST one day for problems, unexpected issues, etc. This is Colombia we are talking about after all. We are building a couple of days to be safe. My wife's interview is the 27th and we are arriving the night of the 20th in Bogota. Our planned schedule is below. If you already have the Certificado de Migratorio then you could do the medical 2 days before the interview if you want to cut it close; which means you might want to arrive 3 days ahead of time (minimum). Also, check to make sure there are no American or Colombian holidays which occur on those days.

Our Schedule (March)

20th - Arrive Bogota at night

21st - Lab (Extra Day #1); this can be done same day as medical appt.

22nd- Medical appt

23rd - Receive Medical Results

24th - Saturday

25th - Sunday

26th - Extra Day (Extra Day #2)

27th - Interview

28th - Receive Visa (we hope)

29th - Fly back to Miami

Bogota is a really nice place. If you can see past this visa ####### it makes a great vacation. Unless you are seriously under pressure take a few extra days and enjoy the city. It is sad to see people run in and out that never know how great the city is.

You can also try to get the vaccines taken care of now before the medical. They are TD, MMR, and varicela, she can get them done at the Red Cross if she wants to. Also she can pay her 156 at the bank and that's another thing you won't have pending.
