Is there a way to get a Royal Mail tracking number (DX Passport delivery)

My Visa/Passport are on their way. But when I track the DX delivery I get the following:

Your item has been sent via 3rd party. Please contact your service provider.

I expected it to arrive via Royal Mail because I live in North Aberdeenshire. However, the DX tracking number doesn't work on Royal Mail website. I tried ringing them to get a RM tracking number but the system just tells me to contact the sender and hangs up on me.

Anyone BTDT?

Hey,

Not sure about it being sent via a 3rd Party, the consulate usually sends your passport back via them directly as its a secure courier service as it contains not just your passport with the embassy stamp but the paperwork you need to hand over to the border agent at POE (hence why DX costs so much!!!). Maybe its because they dont have vans/ staff in North Aberdeenshire?

When I went through this (back in Feb of this year), it took about a week and a half from the interview to getting my passport back where it was delivered and signed for at the door of my parents house (i'd moved back in with them in prep to move to the states and they were home to sign for it whilst I was at work). I don't recall getting a tracking number though - just an email to say it would be delivered that day.

Have you tried phoning DX direct rather than Royal Mail? im sure speaking to a representative from there could help clear things out for you - and maybe get that tracking number (they should have it in their system as they placed the order with RM).

Hope this helps! I know how anxious it feels to get your passport back and start planning your flights.etc! Just expect it to take slightly longer than usual due to the xmas mail load, but im sure its on its way!

I got my passport eventually, thanks. I had tried ringing DX but when I put in the tracking number the automated system just told me to contact the sender because it's been sent via 3rd party... and hung up on me. Royal Mail delivered a few days later.
