Hello, i just had a quick question hopefully someone may know the answer.

I met my fiance abroad, we traveled thailand and malaysia and spent about 7 or 8 months running around. At one point, we stayed in thailand for 5 or 6 months. My fiance is from the uk and has her interview next thursday... We didnt notice this issue until now!

If we were only traveling, and not living or working in the country, when my fiance goes to the interview will she still need a police report? Technically, we didnt live in the country. Just traveled around, stayed in bungalows, she worked online. Just had tourist visa.

How does one even get a police certificate from thailand? All links on the official sites or dead. The same goes for China.

Also, i was told unless you are a "resident" of said country, you wont need a police report. I read this in an old forum post. Still true? As said, we only had regular tourist visas. No rental agreements or any of that..

It says all countries that you LIVED in for 6 months or more as you were on a tourist visa and spent your time travelling then you wouldn't need the police certificates.

Just thought I would add that you could ask the consulate in the UK to be sure as there seems to be a lot of different advice on this. Some say that you need the police certificate regardless if you lived or were just travelling around, but this seems to differ from country to country. One would assume "lived" means obtaining a permanent residence and working. :)

Was just reading up on this for you and it says 12 months or longer not the 6 that I quoted, so as you were in Thailand and Malaysia for under that period of time then you certainly wont need the certificate...lol hope that helps.
