Applying N-400 after divorce

Hi VJ folks,

I got married 09/2011 to a US citizen, January 2012 I received my first (two years) green card. Two years later, September 2014 I did receive my 10 years green card. In a meanwhile I did divorce my spouse. When am I eligible to apply for Naturalization?

You'll be eligible for naturalization when you've been an LPR for five years, and you'll be able to file the N-400 90 days before reaching that five-year anniversary.

Unfortunately, you will not be eligible to file after three years as an LPR on the basis of marriage to a US citizen, because in order to naturalize after three years you must meet the following requirement:

Have been living in marital union with the U.S. citizen spouse, who has been a U.S. citizen during all of such period, during the 3 years immediately preceding the date of filing the application and up until examination on the application
