Bringing Dogs to the US

My wife was just approved for her visa, and we are planning to bring our dog to the US with us.

Where can I find updated info about what procedures to follow so that we take her to the US? Vaccines, steps to follow, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I brought my dog with me and it was not an issue or hassle at all. I just had her most recent vaccination records, and her ownership papers. They did ask for them, and I gave it to the customs officer. He asked nothing more about her

And how did you ship your dog? Cargo?

do you need an import permit from the U.S.?

what about a health certificate?

I came to the USA from Canada, so I drove across the border. I did not have to ship her. She was in the front seat of the truck with me

I did take her to the vet right before we moved and I got all her vaccinations updated and brought the paperwork from the vet.

I don't know about import permits. I did not do that

Hey JustBreathe,

Was your dog in quarantine at all? Everybody keeps warning me that my dog has to be quarantined for several weeks when she enters the US, but I see nothing about that in the guidelines, and even the people I asked at the airport in Colombia didn't say anything about it. When are dogs quarantined in the US after entry? Is it an urban legend?
