Hello ,

I have questions on a topic of GC approved to parent

My mother is india but GC got approved and mailed to my place in US today.

questions

1. Can I send the GC to my mother in india so that when she comes back she can use GC for Entry ? or she has to use only travel documents which she carried ?

2. GC got approved now, upto what time she can stay in india before she come to US.

3. Now as my mother got GC. how long she can stay in india from now on ?

Thanks

The I-551 stamp (visa) in her passport will act as a temporary green card for 1 year once endorsed. So, she technically doesn't need her actual green card to return to the US.

I wouldn't risk sending the GC by mail because it's highly likely it could get lost. She can stay in India up to 1 year after first leaving the US. After 1 year, the US government will consider her GC abandoned. It doesn't matter when the actual GC is received.

1. How I-551 stamp will be in her passport .... what is the process ?

2. She is already in India so how long she can stay before she come to US. As the card is already arrived.

Ohh yes, if you send with someone that's fine. When she first received her visa. That visa acts as a temporary GC. She can stay for up to 1 year after the date she left the US.
