URGENT--signing ds160

hey guys, I'm kind of freaking out right now and need advice! My fiance needs to file a new ds160 because I didn't realized that I couldn't submit it for him! Our interview is this week and I'm really anxious so I was talking to someone whose fiancee got her visa recently and he said that this is a really big deal! I thought it was okay if I just did it from the US because it was easier that way and it was hard for him to get to a computer. His interview is this week..should I just call the embassy tomorrow and explain and ask if he can submit another one?? Or would this cause an even bigger problem to bring it up???

You should call the local embassy. DS 160 should be filed out and signed by the beneficiary not the petitioner. What did you answer on the portion where it was asked if anyone helped you filing out the form? You can help him but he should have filed out the form.

I answered that I helped him. It looks like people just submit a new ds160 whenever they make a mistake...so do you think we can just submit another one and he'll sign it? I also have a new address so I think this would be a good opportunity to update that too

Well yes, you can do that. The old DS 160 will still show in the system though. Better safe to call the local embassy to be clear on the right procedure.

Thats what I was thinking at first but I jus think it may be better to fix the issue and then if they ask what happened he'll tell them it was a mistake. If I call I'm afraid they'll change the appointment or something like that

I will call if I were you; but if you have read that some people in VJ did it.. go ahead. Sure you can do a new DS 160 but your application will be treated as new and you will get new confirmation numbers. You cannot edit a submitted DS 160 form.

Make sure that your fiance can clearly explain your fiasco since you didn't entrust him at first to fill-out the DS 160 for whatever reasons.

Your appointment date is set, you only need to redo the form. The appointment date should not be changed.

Thanks for your help. as I said, it wasnt about trust, it was about him not having easy access to a computer

what you can do if fill-out most of the infos, put your name on the question that you helped him out save it and let him retrieve the form and do last part and submit the form.

Then he can explain to the CO that the confusion in signing and re-doing the form is his limitations to have access to a computer.
