Hello all, I just joined this forum. I have been very confused the past few weeks and was wondering if anyone can help me..

I married my husband in July 2014. In August, we started our application for i-130 and it finally got approved in April. After paying our fees and such, we had a meeting with our lawyer about step 2 - the i601a hardship waiver.. at the moment, we are still gathering all of our documents and proof of hardship, we just got our documents from the physchologist,and in the next week we will be going back to the lawyer with what we have to finally submit this application...

a few months ago when we met with the lawyer, he said that it takes at least a year and a half to get approved.. but on this website and other timeline sites I am seeing that other people have theirs approved in 4-6 months.. so I guess my question is can anyone here can confirm this? It was just a big let-down for us when our lawyer said it can take that long.. our lawyer has over 20 years experience in this, so i believed him.. but now i am seeing on the timeline sites it seems to be much less of a wait.

my husband came to america without a visa in 2002... he is from costa rica..

I think the lawyer is including the visit to the consulate in San Jose after the waiver is approved.then the green card etc...our regular 601 was approved in 4 months with an approved expedite. It only took a month to the day for my husband to enter the US. Costa Rica works fast. Its the uscis that is super slow.

Was your husband in costa rica or america throughout the whole application process?
