We submitted all the forms and evidence for the AOS and EAD, and then got RFE notice. We're now working on getting everything together that was requested in the RFE.

We were just wondering, does anyone ever get the AOS and/or EAD denied, and if so, what can be done then (re-apply?)? Also, has anyone ever heard about anyone getting sent out of the country once they are here (on a K-1) and married (within the 90 days)? I mean for anything other than leaving the country on their own (without advance parole), or something like that.

Sorry - just a little paranoid from all the red tape!

Thank you.

Yes people can get denied AOS and yes people can get deported.

For what reasons? I'll worry less if I know what to avoid...

I'm a US Citizen, so obviously not for the green card. BECAUSE I'm in love, I worry. Losing my husband is one of the worst things I can imagine (another would be losing one of my children).

Are you always this rude?

That was certainly not my intention. Try not to worry to much about things going wrong, just deal with things as they come up. Right now you have an RFE to deal with. Take things one step at a time and don't expect the worst.

It seemed rude to me. The first sentence was telling me that horrible things can happen, but then was dismissive. Read it from the point of view of someone who is nervous that her happiness might be taken away unjustly. I’ve read posts from other people about bad things that have happened to them because of something they didn’t know. I was just hoping by asking my original question that maybe someone might know some information that could help me avoid a bad situation or make this process a little easier. It seems like we ALL have to jump hoops all of the time, and sometimes you hear from someone who didn’t do things exactly right, and now is in a big mess. Or from those poor souls in namecheck hell, as I've heard it called.

I’ve found information from others very helpful at times. Some things are just nice to know (like look your best when you go to biometrics because they take your picture), and other things are very important (don’t make jokes about green cards or paying for a bride during the visa interview).

And to answer another person's reply - yes, I’m very touchy about this, and you would be too, if you married someone from somewhere like Morocco. Many Americans seem to think (from what I’ve been told in the past 9 months) that all Moroccans are terrorists, or are interested in stealing Americans’ money or identities, or are only ever interested in green cards. A good friend of mine married a sweet woman from Brazil, and he told me that she cried twice in the airports because of the interrogations she got from immigration officials there. Maybe all of you were lucky enough to get nice officers in the airport (or maybe you or your fiancé/spouse are from ‘acceptable’ countries), but you wouldn’t believe what I was told when my now-husband was interviewed when he got here at the end of December. I was in Morocco three times, and the people there are very friendly, generous, and peaceful.

Maybe it wasn't your intention to sound rude, but it's very tiring to hear yet one more person make a comment about a green card. It gets us down sometimes.

The second response from you (above) sounds more supportive. Thank you.

Doc just puts things in black and white. If you want sugar-coating you'll have to read somebody else.

My husband is from Northern Ireland. It's not just people from the Middle East that get a bad rap you know.

You married a foreigner. You better toughen up. I still get mad about comments I hear too, but I'll be damned if I will give someone the satisfaction of acting like I have something to be defensive about.

AOS is so overwhelming and even though you are together while filing (unlike the for the K1) it can be difficult. There are so many problems that can arise- RFEs, long security checks, all putting burdens on the immigrant to make a quick and easy adjustment. AOS can be denied, but not if you fufill all the requirements USCIS asks for. So don;t worry, take it one step at a time, jump through all the hoops USCIS insists upon and wait it out. You will get there. (F)

Maybe it wasn't your intention to sound rude, but it's very tiring to hear yet one more person make a comment about a green card. It gets us down sometimes.

My advice:

1) Remove that chip off your shoulder about being married to a Moroccan. Nobody here thinks Moroccans are terrorists.

2) Toughen up, it will help with the process.

Nobody here thinks Moroccans are terrorists.

I guess you mean nobody here on VisaJourney thinks Moroccans are terrorists.

I had someone in person actually tell me not to bring him here because (in his words) "he is a terrorist... he will brain wash you and make you into a suicide bomber". No, I'm not making this up. Also, the woman in immigration at the airport told me that he will get me pregnant, beat me up, take all my money and leave me once he gets his green card. Oh, this was right after she told me I was a little overweight and not very attractive. Many well meaning but misinformed friends and family members have made similar comments about my husband's intentions. Some days it bothers me more than others. Especially when it comes from somewhere unexpected.

Just curious, since you mentioned a chip on my shoulder and that I should toughen up, how many people have made comments to you like the ones they've made to us? You know, things about green cards and terrorism. Also, have any of your spouse's American 'friends' stopped socializing with you because of your marriage? If I hear anyone else with similar experiences, I'll be sure to tell them that I sympathize and hope that things get better, not criticize them for not being tough enough, or otherwise having normal human reactions to the situation.

I don't need sugar-coating, just a little support. Doesn't everyone? I thought this forum was for helping, not making people feel worse.
