I found a joint sponsor for my husband

Can someone help me to understand the tax papers that are needed?

From my understanding He will need 3 years of federal income tax returns PLUS each w-2 form 1099 that goes along with the returns. Does he also need tax transcripts too?

Also if he were to request the IRS to send him the papers showing his returns from the past 3 years, would he ONLY need that paper? Or would he need that paper PLUS w-2s etc.

If someone would be so kind to explain what would be needed whether he sent in his own copies or requested a copy, Id appreciate it.

February 4th- case complete.

February 24th- Interview scheduled for April 19th

If you supply the tax transcripts, you don't need to supply the W-2s. You also only need to supply the most recent tax return, three years worth is optional and if you think it will help your petition.

EDIT: Also don't send originals, send copies of your records only.

If he sends in copies of the tax form then copies of w-2s and or anything else sent to the IRS is needed

If he is just sending in the transcript then that is all that is needed.

As mention only the latest tax return is required to be sent in. However on the I-864 form you will need to provide the income from the last three year of taxes

If your joint sponsor is single and filed single on his tax returns, the above is all correct. However, if your joint sponsor filed jointly with a spouse, you will still need the W2's along with either the complete tax return or transcripts so they can verify that his individual income meets the poverty guidelines.

Good Luck!

Yes. Also, you'll need a letter of continued employment so that they know that the salary they are earning is an ongoing thing.

As I worry so much about everything, if we had been able to get hold of the transcripts, I probably still would have sent everything else too. Overkill, but I panicked so hard about RFE's and trying to avoid them in the initial stages.

Thank you!
