CR1/IR1 Case Complete - Awaiting interview (London)

Just out of curiosity, has anyone booked their medical yet?

I was planning on waiting until I had an interview date, but as it's now getting closer to September I'm assuming we aren't going to get much notice...

I was planning on doing it in the next week or two... then saw this by Geosavygirl

When I phoned on August 6, 2015, I specifically asked if we could schedule a medical and she stated, "No". She said we had to wait for an interview date because when you call to schedule they will ask you your interview date.

... so I thought I'd ask, did you call NVC or the Doctor's?

NVC specifically state somewhere in their blurb that CR-1's shouldn't book the medical prior to receiving an interview date but I thought I'd read someplace about people doing it anyway. My only concern with doing it a while before the interview is that it gives bureaucracy a longer timeframe in which to lose the medical results!! I'm quite keen to get it out of the way because it's a major pain to make the round trip from Devon as it is without squeezing it into their timetable rather than mine and I can think of little worse than making two visits to the Capital with only a short turnaround between them.

Otherwise the latest timescales for an interview suck big style. I was hoping for a mid-September interview with flight out at the end of October, just in time to spend a relaxed weekend in Savannah whilst my good lady beats her running shoes on the road, she is going to be even less happy than me if I don't get to drive her to Georgia! :(

Devonian,

Not sure if you saw this post from yesterday. Looks like London is booked up for Sept.

So my wife got through to NVC, They are waiting for the London Embassy to give them the dates!

The woman estimated interviews will be in October

The reason the July CC didn't get interviews is the embassy didn't have any dates left

Totally depressed now!

My Laptop died, wasn't sure the post had sent first time lol

I called NVC on August 6. She stated since they could not guarantee timeframe on interviews they do not want medicals completed before interviews have been scheduled. I guess, not postive, but medical exams are only good for a certain amount of time and right now it looks as though some people are waiting several months for an interview.

For us it is frustrating because my husband is in the highlands and has to fly down to London twice and some time reference would be nice.

Going to wait till the end of the month, if no interview, my wife is coming to the UK for a week, not seen her since our wedding anniversary in April

I sent an email to nvcinquiry. Was tired of trying to phone. I know how you feel, have not seen my husband since Nov of 2014. We had planned a visit in June but postponed when we got our case transferred to the NVC thinking that from there we'd be done in 30 days...lol...boy was I naive.

My wife is over next Friday, for 3 weeks so that will pass some of the time for me :)

Busy 3 weeks.... Notting Hill Carnival... 2 weddings... her first festival... and roping her in to helping me move house haha! (Moving back in with the parents until I get my visa as my tenancy ends in 2 weeks!)

Yup, it's a pain for anyone outside the London/Home Counties area to make two trips or stump up for an extended week in the Capital, especially for those of us stuck in the middle of nowhere in the far flung corners.

When we filed way back when, one of our Brit friends who had gone through the process said 'oh its going to take a year'

I was like 'f**k off 3 months tops'............................hmmm naivity is common to us lol

Hey there fellow UK peoples. I went through this last year, and if I could offer some unsolicited advice:

The NVC phone operators tell you whatever whenever, so take their statements with a grain of salt. Just keep calling, don't let their statements drag you down! That being said, as soon as your interview is scheduled (assuming this hasn't changed since last year), schedule the medical. I remember it ended up only being about a week out, but can't say for certain what the timeline will be now. Anyhoo, it takes about a week for the medical packet to reach the Embassy. At that time, e-mail the Embassy and ask for the soonest available and mention when the medical was completed.

Our interview got bumped up by 3 weeks :-)

I sent an email to nvcinquiry.

Not sure if you've sent them emails before but I did way back when I was chasing my DS-261 Choice of Agent confirmation. I received the confirmation some while before nvcinquiry got back to me...

...Two emails were sent back then, a week apart, both replied to BUT it took them six weeks.

I wouldn't hold your breath on a speedy return (when they do get back to you they should be able to confirm that you received your appointment date some while back - heck you may even have had your interview ;) )

Actually, they have been rather prompt with the emails. I have sent several and get responses within a few days. I phoned and got a verbal confirmation that our case completed on August 1, 2015 but have yet to have an email stating such. I would like to have a formal email so that when he visits we can prove his intent not to stay.

That's good to know but I must say it put me off bothering emailing them ever again!

I technically consider my requests a Freedom of Information Act request and they have 10 days to respond. I have yet had to quote the government code section in my emails but if I don't hear back in 10 days they will get another email from me with legalese!!!
