Hi all,

I have two questions.

Is everyone asked to sign the photo at N400 interview? I was asked to sign the application and English testing sheets that I passed the test, but officer didn't ask me to sign the photo.

Is there anyone who got the sheet with tick mark on: 'decision will be mailed to home' and later on got the oath letter. Is is normal to get the check box: 'decision will be mailed' and then getting oath letter?

yes I was asked to sign the photo. It is normal to receive the check box that decision will be mailed in the event if the IO needs more time to review your file.

Most people who are not doing a name change are asked to sign the photo, but not everyone.

If you asked for a name change, you should not have been asked to sign the photo.

However, sometimes people who didn't do a name chance aren't asked to sign and others who are doing a name change are asked to sign. Not very consistent.

If you didn't get a decision at the interview you will get one of these:

-approval in the mail asking you to wait for your oath letter.

-oath letter without formal approval letter (this is just as good).

-request for evidence that you'll have to respond to.

-denial letter.

Thanks for your reply. I did not ask for the name change, as it's not easy to get name changed in SF. Even though the officer I dealt with, grilled me and was rude. He didn't seem to be happy to interview other people too. He kept on saying 'I have to go home' But at the end he told me that 'congratulations you passed civic and English test, but didn't take any additional documents from me. I basically couldn't understand his behavior. He said at last 'You responded well to all my questions'. He told me 'I will not be there at oath ceremony but congratulations right now'. i thought he made the decision and approved me. But when I got the sheet in hand, I asked him if he needs any additional docs 'He said your file is too huge for me to go through, I don't need anyhting else'. Now I just have to wait to know what he meant at that time. But verbally he told me at the end

'congratulations right now and I will not be present at oath ceremony'. He was very strict officer.

I am very sure, I will not be denied. The worst case scenario, If he had wanted to give me hard time, maybe he can delay the process by sending rfe, not taking the docs at interview and delay it by asking in mail. And wasting my couple months.

Even in worst case scenario if I get denial, I have plenty of docs to fight for the case. I mean my background is very clear, not even a parking ticket, never been out of country or CA, working on a reputed job, living at same place for last 3 years with spouse and submitted tons of docs.

Anyways I just had the bad luck of getting a tough officer.

My online status changed to 'Inline for oath ceremony'. At least some relief till I get oath letter in hand.
