US embassy in London appintment times

Hello Sbai and Munafn,

I just wanted to ask you guys,if you have read reviews about the US embassy in London in regards to interview times. I have read quite a few posts saying that their time slots has been changing from morning to afternoon slots and I do not know that will apply to everyone as well because I have been given an appointment for 8.00am but it looks like I will be experiencing the same thing. What do you advise in this matter?

My second question is about the police certificate whether it will be okay to take the certificate I had from last October for the interview with me in addition, the UK police certificate lasts for a year and mine expires this October but my interview is in August. Do I need a new one?

Last but not least, Shall I wait for the email to come in before I book my medical or I can book it without? Many thanks for your assistance in advance.

London announced that all May and June appointments would be in the afternoon. Then it seems to have extended to July. No word of August yet.

The consulate schedules the K1 interviews and has put them in the afternoon since May. The NVC picks the date and time for immigrant visas such as yours, and has continued to give morning times. Since May, those people have had their morning time rescheduled by London once the embassy received the file. It's probably best for you to wait if you need to make travel reservations to London until you know if you need to plan on morning or afternoon.

Your UK police certificate is good for a year so will still be valid in October. The medical clinic will also accept it, even though their website information Indicates 6 months. Once you know your new case number assigned by NVC (LNDXxxxxxxx) you can make the medical appointment. They ask for that LND number when you call.

Thank you very much Nick for clarifying all. I actually live in London and I do not live too far from the embassy however, it is good to know what time to arrive :). I will actually book my medical next week.

Very helpful information indeed! Thank you nich-nick and Habel. I think you should be alright with the Police certificate as well. And yea, I wouldn't have known about the times either lol.

I was trying to troll through a few threads that had information on post interview. Generally does anyone know how long it takes to get the passport back? For London, do we have to go and pick it up or do they mail it out to you?

The UK FORUM is your best source for threads about London specific information.

This thread shows "How long?" experiences. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/550974-interview-date-to-visa-in-hand-how-long-2015-data/?p=7693446

Most are K1s, but you will note the CR1s were slightly faster than the others around their interview date. There has been a two week stoppage of visa issue (printing) that just resumed, so the times will be longer than normal until London catches up. Bookmark the thread and check how it is going around the time you interview.

All visas (passports) issued by London are turned over to DX courier. The courier emails when they have your passport and says when you can pick up at the depot or the day it will be delivered.

Your choice--

Pick up at a DX Secure depot- no charge

Delivery to your home- $30

@Munafn,

They allowed me to choose the date I required therefore, it is flexible and my advise is to call the above number as soon as you have your IL from NVC. They only asked me my case number and DOB then an email address to confirm the appointment. Good luck and if you have any further question please feel free to ask.

Thanks Habel! I've looked at the questionnaire and I'm ready to book hopefully if there's good news at the end of this month. All the best for your medicals. Let me know how it goes for you. I think it's a little different from when I remember it. After the medicals I believe they submit the results directly to the embassy. All the best!

I had my medical appointment on 25th June. I was in and out of there in 40mins. Very friendly staff and the whole process went very smoothly. At the end the doctor told me if I don't get a phone call in the next 3-4 days then I should just assume everything is fine and they will send the package directly to the embassy. Hope that helps :)

PD 22nd Oct 2013

IL 24th July 2015

P.S. my interview time was changed from 8:00am to 1:00pm by the embassy. I got a letter through the post confirming the new time.

Hello All,

I had my medical today and all went nice and smooth. The people were very friendly and doctor was also very pleasant. @Munafn and Sbai my advise to you both is to tell your other half to book a early morning appointment so that they can be in and out quicker. The location not far from Bond Street station. Make sure to gather everything before you attending. The documents required are:

  • 4 photographs for each person attending
  • Vaccination record
  • Passport
  • Police Certificate and
  • Medical Questionnaire

All the best of luck and if you have any question please let me know.
