Taxes Owed

So while we patiently wait for the ROC at VSC I decide to start looking at the application for US Citizenship as it is mere 4 months away before my wife is eligible.

I noticed one of the questions is regarding "do you owe any taxes" as luck would have it, thanks to an incompetent CPA, I do.

So my question is do I need to get those paid off before she applies (she was joint on the tax return). Or as long as I have a payment arrangement with the IRS is she ok?

TIA

I had a payment arrangement with the IRS before I decided to apply for citizenship. I decided to pay off everything so that I could answer NO to that question rather than explaining at the interview.

I understand not everybody has the chance to do that, but in my opinion, the fewer the number of things you have to explain, the better.

If you don't have a payment arrangement, do not apply yet.

As long as you have payment arrangement with IRS, then it would be okay with N-400 application.

Yeah, after googling it. Seems like you are right. Thanks everyone for the responses.
