Question re: writing the check for $680

The N-400 instructions published by USCIS say to write one's A# on the BACK of the check ... is this correct or is it wrong advice? Normally one would think one should write it in the "Memo" area on the front of the check, right? Usually the back of the check is only for use by those who are cashing it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Also, should I write on the check "Six Hundred Eighty" or "Six Hundred Eighty and 00/100"? Similarly, should I write in figures 680 or 680.00? These are probably silly questions, but I don't want to give them any excuse to reject my application and waste my time (!)

1. Memo N400 fee A#

2. Six Hundred Eighty then cross line or 00/100

Don't panic over small things just do what you do everyday. Good luck.
