NVC didn't send my Petition/NOA2 to the Consulate - delaying return of Passport/CR1 visa

Apparently the NVC failed to send through my USC husband's approved petition to the Consulate (Sydney) when they scheduled the interview (3 months ago)

The approved petition needs to be included in the visa package before the consulate can send your visa package back to you.

I have been told by the Consulate that my visa was approved and issued in my passport, but they are waiting on the NVC to send them the petition.

When contacting NVC they couldn't tell me if the request for the petition has been actioned or not - likely they are just sitting on it.

It has been more than 2 weeks since I had my interview and my visa approved and it's absolutely frustrating that the NVC created a bottleneck in the process - I've had to change my flight already a week out, and based on the NVC's inability to tell me anything, I am worried I might have to change it again.

Lesson Learnt: Prior to the interview, check that the consulate has all the paperwork from the NVC - I don't believe they do document completeness checks on the case. Knowing in advance will allow you time to follow up with the NVC and make sure all the requirements are met. Also, if I had known they required a copy of the petition I could have provided it myself as I brought it with me to the interview (I think they need the copy directly from NVC though.)

That's sucks. But yea they would not have taken yours, who knows what you did or didn't change.
