Question about the Interview Letter checklist

Hello!

My husband's case here in the Netherlands has been completed and an interview date has been set. I am a bit confused about something. Our checklist of documents states:

Netherlands Police Certificate P

This is the instructions for the letter 'P' next to it:

(P) You must request this police certificate from the issuing authority. After you submit your

request, the issuing authority will send the certificate directly to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate for your interview.

We already submitted our Police Certificate with our paperwork to the NVC. The letter clearly states if your Police Certificate is not more than a year old you do NOT need to bring a new copy to the interview with you. However, this states that we must request a new one?

My husband says that since we sent in the original police certificate that was issued November of 2014 (his interview is in July of this year) and it clearly states we do NOT need to bring a new one with us if it is under a year old that this is going to be fine but then when I read the letter and it has a 'P' next to the Netherlands Police Certificate, I am confused. Has anyone else had a P next to theirs and if so what did you do? Had you submitted one that was still under a year old and you did not have to request another?

Thank you!

My husband is from the Netherlands also. Ours states

10 - NETHERLANDS POLICE CERTIFICATE J

** J The NVC only received a photocopy of the document. You must present the original document at the time of your interview.

Ours is under one year old also. Maybe NVC checked it off wrong? Or try emailing the consulate http://ImmigrantVisasAms@state.gov ?

I KNOW they dont respond very fast, that much i can tell you. There is no way to phone consulate only email. I sent an email on May 2nd and

still have NOT received a response. Hopefully you could be luckier an get a quicker response.

Make sure you have the right version? Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag (VOG) via the Centraal Orgaan Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag (COVOG), an office within the Dutch Ministry of Justice

"Make sure you have the right version of a document. Dutch civil documents for instance, must come from the Civil Registry Office - Burgerlijke Stand. Excerpts from the basis or persons administration - basis- of persoonsadministratie - are not acceptable."

Thank you! I will email them and ask. I had to email them concerning a reschedule of an appointment and they got back with me ASAP but I suppose that was more pressing than my question about this. We did get a VOG from our local court house. It was an official document and the thing we requested and sent with the packet we sent off some months ago to the NVC. Since it was a requirement to send with that packet I would have assumed if it was not the right document they would have sent it with our checklist to resubmit but we only had to refill in one of the support papers. So, I dunno. I will look into it and email them. I hope they get back with you soon and thank you for your answer. My husband's interview is not until next month and we are in no hurry (we are together in the Netherlands), but want to get it sorted ASAP. Thank you again and I hope your husband gets his visa ASAP! :)

Hey, why dont you get a new one? Just go to your townhall(gemeente). Pay for it. Call them on nr: +31 88 998 22 00. Tell them you need it with urgentie(spoed) and voila you get one in 5 days. This is your records are clean. I got mine via the hague. Paid it online and got the vog in 2 weeks.

Thanks! We are going to get a new one, just in case, but we think that this was a mistake since we sent the original. We can get one from the local court house within a few days. We are going to do it a bit closer to the interview date. But the instructions were not to get a new one but to have them send it to the Consulate, but they don't do that here in Holland. There is nowhere you can request they send it to somewhere other than your residence as far as I can see so it is strange and this makes me now think it is a mistake. We are going to get a new one anyway, just to cover our bases but it is still odd.

Coming back thinking about this and I know I DID get a checklist from the NVC that my husband needed to bring a Police Certificate to the interview. Upon calling they said its a false checklist just for consulate to know one has been submitted just original is need to look at it. I wonder if this is the similar?

My checklist stated..

______10 - NETHERLANDS POLICE CERTIFICATE:_________________________ You need to apply for a certificate of good conduct or Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag (VOG) via the Centraal Orgaan Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag (COVOG), an office within the Dutch Ministry of Justice.

My Interview letter stated..

10 - NETHERLANDS POLICE CERTIFICATE J

@seal just get a new one. I guess you are right it works different here in the netherlands. My case has been forwarded via nvc to embassy so all i need is to bring the medical which dr. Schulte will bring himself to them. 2 pics american size. Both appointment letters came in email 1. The original date and 2 the rescheduled date. Also the VOG and a valid passport (at least 6months).

@vandongen yea i got the same one.

Yeah if you sent a copy of the certificate all they need is the original. I think mine is still a mistake since I sent the original and nowhere in NL can the gemeenta forward the police certificate for me to another address. We are going to get a new one. It is on the 'to do' list but my husband's interview is not until the end of July so we have plenty of time.

Good luck to your partners guys. :D
