Hi all. So we just sent out packet 3 email. However we have not heard anything back and it has been a week now. Anyone know the average wait to receive packet 4?

Also, I have been reading that you need to pay the visa fee before your interview. However I did not see any payment option while completing the DS-160. Does anyone know when/where we should be expecting to pay this visa fee?

(Consulate is in Montreal)

Although I'm not 100% sure, I believe once it's been a week you can start calling the consulate to inquire. I know I will be as soon as I'm able to.

But I have a quick question for you, with your email I know you're supposed to send the checklist along with your passport photo and whatnot, but is the checklist supposed to be a scanned copy with your signature, or just the blank checklist?

You need to send the checklist with all the things that apply to you checked off. The ones that don't apply i put "NA"(not applicable ) like court records military records etc. you also need to put your MTL case # at the bottom and yes you need to sign and date. I signed mine then scanned it right onto email

Hi Nicole&Billy,

Came across your thread looking for some info here, hopefully you can be of help - not trying to derail this thread! So my case was sent from the NVC to the Montreal Consulate back at the end of March, and I haven't received packet 3 instructions yet, but have been told they're notoriously slow... but finally realized I don't even need to actually wait before starting the process! Dumb me. SO - my main question, the net keeps telling me for packet 3 I need to submit this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YPyYVB3A_-EHgO2k6X5WgKg5Jtb04pgRubg9SeiHNzI/edit

BUT - after finding packet 3 instructions on the consulate website: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/montreal/Packet3-K1-MTL.pdf

it looks like maybe now all that's needed is DS-160, signed checklist, and passport scan??

I am so confused after seeing so many people talk about requiring DS-230s, DS-156/156K... did this recently change?

Thank you so much for any help and sorry for being so longwinded... they really don't seem to make this very clear!

Hi there,

DS-160 is the only one you need to fill out now!

So when you email packet 3 you will send the confirmation page, scanned copy of the checklist (check off all items pertaining to you) sign and date the bottom with your MTL chase number and a scanned copy in coulor of your passport ID page

Hope this helps!
