Affidavit questions

The 90 day period for my hubby and I to send in my I-751 packet is in about a months time so we are getting things organized for it. I do have a question about the affidavits... Do they need to be notarized? Or is a signature and the person's info enough?

Thanks in advance :)

If you have strong evidence, I would suggest not sending affidavits at all.

But to answer your question, an affidavit (as opposed to a signed statement by your friend/relative) is a statement that is both signed by your friend/relative AND a notary. Many people send signed statements thinking they are affidavits, but they are not. However, they are such a weak form of evidence that the error seems to be inconsequential.

So far we have:

-Joint Tax returns for 2012, 2013 and 2014

- Proof of all our joint checking and savings accounts- activity included

-Copy of our lease agreements

-copies of our joint cell phone account

-copy of our joint car loan documents

- copy of joint insurance

-copies of hubby's life insurance through work with me as a beneficiary

-Pictures

-copies of my stepdaughters school registration which shows me as her stepmom

-legal documentation showing me as her stepmom (hubby's custody agreement)

-copies of health insurance showing hubby and I on it

-copy of Stepdaughters medical paperwork showing I can make decisions for her (She lives with us)

Would you suggest that we even bother with the affidavits?
