I applied December 8 - and completed the biometric early January for the Hartford CT office

from my research , there is limited info on Hartford office timelines and other's experiences

when will it be reasonable for me to try and follow up?

It's been 2 months since your biometrics appointment... normally, if it's been under 120 days, they'll just tell you everything is normal and you should just wait. There's no harm in calling or scheduling an appointment to follow-up if you live nearby, but I wouldn't worry just yet. Some of the smaller offices move quite slowly. If you haven't heard anything by the end of April, then you should definitely pay them a visit. The whole process is taking most people between 6 and 8 months (although some are finishing in 4 and some take closer to a year). So if you are placed inline in April and are interviewed in May and take your oath in June, you'll be just about average.
