so just to clarify the packet 3 is the letter from NVC right?

No, Packet 3 is from the embassy. It's the checklist they send to the beneficiary (applicant at this stage - yeah, I know - synonyms, right?). This will detail what they need to provide either before the interview or during the interview.

I am not sure what the difference of packet 3 and packet 4? Can anyone clarify please.

From what I understand, I've noted the Packet 3 above. I think Packet 4 is what the embassy sends after they receive the response from the beneficiary/applicant. I think Packet 3.5 is what the beneficiary's response to the embassy is called.

I think that some embassies may omit the Packet 3.5 and/or 4 step altogether.

Anyone have corrections or additional information on this step?

I'm sorry; let me try to say it a better way. If you look under the "Embassy Info" tab above, the Philippines embassy shows the below information. So it looks like your embassy doesn't send a Packet 3 and Packet 4 is downloaded electronically. They are essentially two different steps. The first, Packet 3 is "Hey, the embassy received your petition and is ready to schedule your interview. Are you ready? If so, bring or send us this..." Then Packet 4 says, "Okay, great, you are ready. Make sure you bring these things..."

Packet 3 Contains: For CR1/IR1

1.Instruction for Immigrant VISA application.

2.Notification of Applicant Readiness Form (DS-2001)

3.Biographic Data Form (DS-230I)

4.Affidavit of support form.

For K-1

Everything is online, don't sit around waiting for a letter that won't arrive.

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3224.html ball.gif Issues a Packet 4? Yes ball.gif Packet 4 contents (if known): *Packet 4 is no longer delivered but has to be downloaded from the Embassy's website*

For K Visa applicants:

- Appointment letter (sent via email) for medical exam and interview

- DS-160 form (online at DoS)

- I-134 form

- Instructions for payment of fee, medical exam, location of embassy

Instructions on USEM Manila Website here:

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3224.html

For CR1/IR1:

- Appointment letter for interview

- Instructions for medical exam ball.gif What forms should be send back to the Consulate? None.

I think thespoons was right. She said that she's noticed NVC tends to receive petitions from CSC on either Thursday and/or Friday. So maybe they receive and log cases on Wednesday or Thurday, then issue numbers on Friday. I called on a Friday after seeing Toddandcamilla's update on a Thursday. However, my tier two person said they received the petition that day, but I don't think they did...I think they received it earlier.

You have to hang up and call again until they let you get a place in the queue. Try calling back about 5-7 more times and if it doesn't let you in, give it a 15-20 minute break. The call volume may slow down in a few more hours. People are just getting home in the States about right now.

Mine was put into the system Monday.... So, I am hoping for tomorrow. :)

Keep trying, it took me about 15 calls to get through.
