do we need police certificate only from passport office in Indiaor Disctrict superintendent office as well

Hi all,

My husband got his PCC from regional passport office only..NVC need just one..Send copies only..Good Luck .. :thumbs:

Sep 4th 2014 Wedding 

Oct 31st 2014 I130 sent

Nov 7th 2014 NOA 1

Dec 8th 2014 NOA 2

Dec 23th 2014 NVC received

Feb 4th 2015 Case number 

Feb 5th 2015 DS261 completed 

Feb 6th 2015 AOS fee (paid in process) 

Feb 9th 2015 Sent AOS and IV package 

Feb10th 2015 AOS fee PAID and DS261 reviewed 

Feb 10th 2015 AOS and IV package received(SCAN DATE) Got email confirmation  60days

Feb 11th 2015 IV fee (paid in process) 

Feb 12th 2015 DS260 available 

Feb 12th 2015 IV fee PAID

Feb 16th 2015 DS260 completed 

Mar 20th 2015 Case Complete without checklist

the police clearance from superintendent police takes very long

I dont know about superintendent police..But regional passport office takes atleast 2 weeks..I think you have to downld a form and make appointment and then they will give the PCC.My husband got it frm mumbai office in 1 day but he waitied 5 hours.. :shocked:

did you already submit police clearance, birth certificate, affidavit of support, I mean the whole package to nvc already??.

I read here on this website, someone had a checklist because they didn't provide both, from passport office and local police

Police Records

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

  • All Indian nationals aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police clearance certificates from the Regional Passport Office.
  • Indian passport holders residing outside India should obtain a statement from their local Indian Embassy, Consulate, High Commission, or Deputy High Commission confirming they have no criminal record.
  • Non-Indian applicants residing in India who are registered with the Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) should obtain police certificates from the FRRO serving their area of residence.
  • Non-Indian applicants residing in India who are not registered with the FRRO, such as foreigners holding Overseas Citizen of India status, should obtain police clearance certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.
  • Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants residing outside India.

You do NOT need anything from a police station. All that is needed is the PCC issued by passport seva kendra.

The US embassy only honors PCC issued by the regional passport office.
