I paid the fee via Internet banking so there's no receipt...will they ask me for some evidence of payment at the interview?

Sorry I don't remember if they wanted to see my receipt. I don't think they did. They prob won't ask as long as they have the funds in their pockets with no problems.

It's around 70 days. You can go up to the Timelines link at the top of this page and search for other people's timelines to get an idea. That's how I got this number.

Hey guys,

For me it is going to be about a month after they received the packet from NVC til the interview.

The average I saw was about 70 days. How did you get it to be ~1 month? Any tips are appreciated. We're hoping the NOA2 comes in about 3 weeks from now and a 1 month wait for an interview would be a blessing.

From the Immigration Timeline page at the top it says the wait time between consulate getting paperwork and an interview is:

Japan - 62 days

Tokyo - 48 days

Perhaps the Japan date is an average of different consulates? I don't know. But yeah, a month wait would be a huge blessing.

We just scheduled the medical interview ahead of actually receiving packet 3. We also did the background check prior to receiving packet 3. I scheduled the visa interview about a day before actually receiving packet 3. From there it was just a matter of sending out the proper forms once we did receive packet 3.

So once you got your NOA2, you went ahead and got the police certificate. For the medical check, you didn't have to wait for any forms from packet 3 before you did it?

I didn't know you could schedule an interview before getting packet 3. Can I schedule more than one day before getting packet 3, to make the wait shorter?

About one month.

The embassy don't schedule your interview appointment till they confirm the payment.

You will need something like the letter in packet 3 (something shows the case number) to get police certificate, and medical check.

All that is needed to get the police certificate is proof of having received a case number. So I scanned the letter I got from the NVC and sent it to my fiance in Japan. The medical check they just want the case number that the NVC gives you, so for that we didn't even wait for any documents. (got it from calling the NVC)

You can schedule the interview even before making the payment, but they will only confirm once payment is received. Again for that all you need is the case number no documents from packet 3.

We ended up getting packet 3 before the interview, so I can't vouch for if the whole process can be done without it.

Hey All!

I've been locked off VJ since a software update disabled my login a day before my NOA2! Couldn't even share the news. :-(

So here are some highlights we found. Timeline has been updated.

It took about a week to go from CSC to NVC.

it took about a week to go from NVC to Tokyo.

it took about a week to get the packet 3 after case arrived in Tokyo.

We had prepared the DS 230 in advance. Returned the packet the next day.

We followed the instructions created a profile and paid the visa fee the day we returned packet 3.

We requested and were confirmed our requested interview date (which was about a month out). Confirmation email took about 3 business days.

The Osaka police made it very clear they wanted the letter from the Embassy. We did not try and push it through with the NVC letter.

Medical scheduled.

I feel our process has moved along at a good pace thus far. Be prepared for your next step and don't waste your own time. One month ago we were looking at Igor's List and thinking we should be getting NOA 2, today we're we're on autopilot as we we wait for our date.

We will end up with 8 weeks roughly between NOA2 and the interview and this was in part due to our calendar and request for an interview date 5 weeks out. Flights from Japan to the US are booked 6 months to the day from when the I-129F was sent to the lockbox.

Question:

What is the best way to notify the Embassy that the Petitioner will also be attending the interview?

From what I've read about the interview. You will both be waiting and she will get called up to the window to do her interview right there. She has to be alone at the window.
