I am a nurse and I've had contact with patients with TB. During my interview, I was not asked if I have ever been in contact with people with TB. And when I had my chest x-ray done, the results were OK, I presume, since I didn't have to undergo a sputum exam.

But if in case they ask, just tell them the truth. I don't think that would be a basis for them to ask you to go through a sputum exam or not because they look at the x-ray results to evaluate whether you'd have to go through the exam or not. :)

I have walked past the SLEC building where they do the medical test and the side door where they do the TB shots.

First off it very nasty looking building, Very small and I guess they do the shot for Australia immigrants there. I always walk to the other side of the street when I get near the SLEC building.....

It looks like TB Central there...........

There is no side door and no shots for TB at SLEC. Everyone goes through the same front door. DOT folks ride in the elevator or walk the stairs to the Penthouse where tablets are issued and sputum is collected.

Typically the first month or two of DOT is taking Pyrazinamide and Ethambutol tablets to make the TB non-contagious and sputum negative. Then 4 months or so of the maintenance phase, which is taking Isoniazid and Rifampicin tablets. 130 doses in all Monday through Friday, no holidays.

Gotcha, I was checking it out in November and I figured they would try to keep the TB folks separated, and thought the area to the left side of the building was for TB treatment
