new passport

I may need a new passport, my interview is on 3rd March, last minute I know we were unsure if I need a new one and we didn't have the money couple weeks ago.

My question is has anyone ordered a new passport by the 1 day or 1 week service?

Is the 1 day service just for renewing expired passports or can a damaged passport use the same service?

As I was told on another thread that a guy got the 1 day service for replacing his damaged passport. I wonder if that is correct.

I had a valid passport, but it was due to expire in 9 months, and by the time my interview was due I wouldn't have had enough time. I opted for the one day service and was issued a passport in 4 hours. I visited the office in Peterborough and attended in person. I called beforehand to make an appointment.

my passport doesnt run out until 2021, but it is damaged abit, so most likely I would need to do the 1 week service. How quick can you get an appointment with them??

That depends on the local office. I had to drive 80 odd miles, you're best off calling them and speaking to the person on the phone to see what their availability is.

My local office will be south london, I hope I could get an appointment for monday and receive it 2nd March, if not I would wait until after my interview.

Well, you need to meet the criteria for a passport as Nich-Nick pointed out indirectly. That depends how damaged it is... How bad is it?

To me it doesn't sound so bad if it isn't part of the identity section, however I can't answer that personally. it's worth looking through here and seeing what other people have said. I found no information online regarding it. I would renew it just to be on the safe side, but that's me. Sorry i can't be helpful. If you can get it renewed before the interview, that's cool, but you will need to present it there. So, that's a deciding factor.

The point is they may not issue a visa if they don't like your passport on interview day. If the passport is okay with the US embassy, then you don't need to get a new one.

Get a new one eventually in your new married name if you want to, but you can continue to use the old one and a marriage certificate to explain the name difference.

Time is short so take your chances that your passport is okay.
