Hi everyone,

on Dec. 13, 2006 we arrived together at the Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and everything went just fine me going through the customs. The INS officer went through all my papers (package #3, the sealed envelop from the consulate) and after he was done he congratulated us for our upcoming wedding and told us to go to the local USCIS office in Houston as soon as we got married.

Our wedding day was Jan. 25, 2007 and right now we are about to put everything together for applying the AOS and to send the whole package off to the lockbox in Chicago.

Now we would like to know if it's really necassary we will have to go to the local USCIS office in Houston to report them our wedding and show them our marriage certificate or is it enough to include a certified copy of the marriage certificate with the package we are sending off to Chicago. Could we show up at the local office in Houston without setting up an appointment or would we have to go through INFOPASS for an appointment first?

The officer at the airport didn't hand me back any of the papers they were in the sealed envelop that I got from the consulate in Frankfurt/Germany. (Any idea who got those papers???)

In the guide on VISAJOURNEY about how K-1 visa holders apply for AOS we have read we need to include an I-693A form (vaccination supplement).

Does that mean, since I didn't get any of my papers back, I will have to take my International Vaccination Passport to a Civil Surgeon and ask them to fill in the form all the vaccinations I got they were required for the K-1 visa. Or would a copy of my International Vaccination Passport be enough to include it with the I-485 form?

If I will have to go to Civil Surgeon, so can anybody recommend me one here in the Houston area (if possible North Houston/Spring/Woodlands/Conroe) who could fill out that form without we would have to apply for a credit so we could pay for it? ;)

Thanks for your help

I just wanted to say Howdy, since we're in Houston also :) I'm sorry I don't know the answers to your questions since my situation was different, but we went to my interview at the Houston office, and I would definitely make an InfoPass appointment if you have to visit there, the place is not too far from the airport, but they don't have a huge amount of seating, or at least when we went there it was really busy, and even with our appointment letter, we waited about 90mins.

Good luck in your journey and more importantly, congratulations for your marriage :D
