hi all quick question what do I do with the case number given to me by the NVC agent? I just called today and was told my case left yesterday to the Dominican Republic Consulate. I am just curious as to who else I have to get a hold on to check if the consulate received our petition? thank you for the help it's greatly appreciated.

I was wondering the same thing.. I am also going through DR.. I read on the DR embassy page that they follow the new way of doing things where you fill in the DS160 online and toy have to pay the fee at the Banco there and then that's when you get a receipt for the medical and you are able to book the interview at the visa center AND the consulate.. So look into that. I'm curious to see how it goes with you as I will be following the same steps.. Good luck and congrats!

You can enter the case number on the CEAC status page - https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?

In Transit means it is in the process of being transferred to your consulate. Once it changes to 'Ready' - that means the consulate has received your case and is now awaiting your next steps... DS-160, visa payment, medical results, etc... Some consulates require medical exam results before scheduling your interview. Others allow you to schedule your own. You will have to check on your specific consulate's processes beyond that.

Be sure to select 'immigrant visa' on the CEAC status page.. K-1 is a hybrid but the international embassies consider it immigrant. Then input the case number AAAxxxxxxxxxx

I saw another user post that they had everything from 2 weeks in advance for interviews but yes I will post as soon as i am able to book the date. Random question would you happen to know how long we have before entering USA after visa has been issued?

Now that I'm not sure of. I think that visa is only good for six months. But don't quote me on that. Would have to do some searching for that answer..

I started responding but then realized this is a K1. I know for most it is based on the expiry of the medical and that is usually around 6 months.
