Travel date for K2 follow on Visa

Hello all,

We are going to bring my wifes son here to join her using a K2. This is possible if within one year of her arrival at US. I have read different things and just wanted to clarify. Does her son have to be issued the K2 visa prior to the one year anniversary or does he have to arrive in the US prior to the anniversary? I believe there is a 60 day window for travel after the visa is issued.

From what I've read on here the child has one year to arrive in the states.

I'm sure someone will clarify though.

The K-2 child MUST TRAVEL within the one year date on the K-1 visa. Taken from the USCIS website:

If they want to travel later than one year from the date your K-1 visa was issued, they will not be eligible to receive K-2 visas, and separate immigrant visa petitions will be required.

I believe there is a 60 day window for travel after the visa is issued.

Nope, must travel within the one year window, so visa must be issued before the one year time frame AND the child must enter the US also within this same time frame.
