I Just got a new 'puter but can't figure out how to set up mah interwebz. :P

I can't get online and I can't figure out how to set everything up so it'll let me get online, basically. >.>

I have a linksys router and my hubby's PC is connected right now.

The OS is Vista Home premium.

When I try to Connect to the Internet wizard, it tries to connect through PPPOE or something like that?

I'm not sure what to do. I tried connecting directly without using the router, no go.

Thanks for any tips!

PPPoE is "Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet." What type of Linksys router do you have? Have you tried plugging your cable into your husband's router port? Just to check if something is wrong (or dead) with that particular router port you're trying. Also, you might want to try rebooting the router as well. The easiest way to do that is unplug the power cable from the router (not the cable from the wall socket or surge protector), wait about 30 to 60 seconds, and then plug it back in.

If that doesn't work, then...I'll have to look into Windows Vista some. I'm used to Windows XP and Windows 2000.

o.O

Wow! Thanks a bunch. All I did was unplug the router for a bit and voila, I'm on the annoying windows/dell welcome website.

Rawr. Now onto downloading Firefox.

THANK YOU!!!
