So I just started gathering things to get everything ready to begin the K1 V process. I noticed that my tax filings show I have 2 dependents, but I don't have any at all. I have never been married or never had kids or any other kind of dependents imaginable. I actually noticed this mistake a long time ago on employer pay stubs... but never bothered to get it changed because I didn't think it would ever affect me.

My first question is I am curious about is whether this will affect my application to bring my fiancé here.

And last question is instead of using w2s or whatever evidence of support, can I just substitute in irs tax transcripts?

Thanks for your insight and this is my 1st post other than an introduction so I apologize if more info is needed, just let me know I will respond as swiftly as I can.

:time: as this will help us answer your query more specifically. I cannot answer your question directly, however I advise looking in the regional forum for the embassy's specific requirements as it does vary. For example, London is happy with just a letter from your employer stating your salary and that the job is held in good faith. Others require multiple forms of income evidence.

I would personally want to get that changed ASAP with regards to dependents being listed that aren't there.

Welcome to the forum and good luck!

Do you mean your pay stub shows you claim 2 dependents for your withholding? That has nothing to do with actual dependents- it only affects how much is held from your pay. Your actual tax form shows true dependents. Unlikely that 2 random and unknown people would be listed as dependents on your tax return. It is very common to show dependents on the W-2 even if you don't actually have any. In any case, it has no bearing on actual dependents, which would be listed on your tax return.
