(Please note I attempted to find answers to my questions using the search function on VJ, but to no avail).

Are checks conducted on both the Petitioner as well as the Beneficiary?

Which agency conducts them and at which point of the process?

If there's a "hangup" or a "flag," what happens next? Is your Petition sent to some netherworld part of the bureaucracy and delayed by an additional six or nine months (or more)?

Thanks in advance for input here!

From how it was explained to me, USCIS will perform background checks on both the petitioner and the beneficiary. If there is a "hit" on one of the names, or if information revealed during the background check differs materially from what is stated on the petition, additional background checks will be performed.

It is very important that the information on the K-1 petition is accurate. USCIS is very thorough in their background investigations.

Good luck!
