How long is the I-129F Petition good for from the time of submission?

How long is the I-129F Petition good for from the time of submission to USCIS or is there a length of time in which the petition will remain active from the time of submission? What I'm trying to ask is, does USCIS or the U.S. give the petitioner only so much time to submit any additional documents in response to RFEs, etc. as well as for the K1 applicant to do what he/she is required to do in order to complete the K1 Visa process?

Once a valid I-129F is submitted to USCIS it is "good" until they make a final decision. As for an RFE response, you have 60 days to get the response back to USCIS. Once the petition is approved the beneficiary (your fiancee) has up to a year to get the visa process at the embassy completed.
