My wife and I live in Japan currently. We have lived together at this address for about 9 months. We originally worked together, and in Japan, dating your coworker is kind of frowned upon. So, when we moved, she didn't change her address officially.

Now, I'm filling out the I-130. For my wife's address, it seems that I should list it as the one currently registered officially with the Japanese government. Or, does it really matter? Can I list our current address for both of us? Also, there is a question about the last address at which we lived together. Is it ok to list our current address in this section? If they investigate this, they might decide that she never actually lived here (though we do have bills with her name on them at this address).

Seems like something I want to get right, considering it will probably be one of the first things they read about our case.

Thank you in advance for your time and advice.

I would use her current address. Where she actually lives with you.

Chances of being "investigated" is pretty slim, especially for a Japanese citizen.

You have proof that you reside together and that's more than most people have when they send off the I-130!
